EFT Therapy/ The Roots
All of our work is based on Family Systems Theory, which states that the family is an emotional system made up of interconnected members. It is due to this theory that we are able to work with individuals, couples, and families effectively even if all members are not present for therapy. As we do systems work, we can shift even just one member of the system, which then allows for change to all members of the family system.
IFS Therapy/ The Wings
Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a therapeutic approach that focuses on understanding and healing the internal family system within our body, just like the movie Inside Out. Our protectors develop as a response to life’s experiences. We often times learn to dislike these parts of ourselves. This creates a stronger response from these parts. Through self-compassion and understanding, we are able to learn to be harmonious with these parts. They then allow our core self to step in rather than the protectors taking over.
The protectors try to stop us from carrying painful emotions, but in doing so, also stop us from connecting. A core principle of IFS is the belief in the "Self," a centered, calm, and compassionate core of the person, which can lead and guide the internal system toward healing and balance. It empowers clients to access their inner wisdom and restore balance to their emotional/psychological well-being.
This model is the Wings of our clinic as it allows us to look at our inner family over other systems, to create a life that is congruent with ourselves.
