Roots and Wings Family Therapy
Danielle Thurman, LMFT, EFT certified, EFT Supervisor Candidate, AAMFT Supervisor Candidate & Practice Owner
I’m Dani Thurman, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with over 36 years of experience in helping couples and individuals heal and strengthen their relationships. Ok, you can see that I am not old enough for that. I have eight years of experience, but I was the child who always knew I was unique. I grew up in a home with a lot of neurodivergence and trauma. I have spent my whole life looking for the answers to how to find secure connections with myself/others. I am here to share them with you!
You will not find a more passionate, dedicated therapist to help you figure out how to get the life you have always wanted. I can often help clients who have previously had little to no luck with other methods of help. I feel confident in treating any symptom. I thrive in having structured, direct, and compassionate therapy where you can see change in and out of each session. You will feel the passion in my work. My goal is for us to create a unique relationship together that transforms your experience with therapy and life.
Before starting my practice, I spent 7 years at the iconic EFT Clinic where we received many awards for best in marriage and family therapy. I continue to focus on the EFT model as a base for therapy as it is the most researched and effective therapy model I have encountered. I also use models like IFS, guided imagery, etc.

Let us help you earn secure attachment through the following models:
EFT Therapy/ The Roots
Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) is a research-based, therapy approach that focuses on improving emotional connection and attachment between individuals, couples, and families. When we go through struggles, we develop protective patterns that take us away from connection of self and others. We will help you clearly see this pattern and learn to break it by sharing core behaviors, emotions, fears, and needs.
This model is the roots of our clinic as it helps us to hold onto bonds.
IFS Therapy/ The Wings
Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a therapeutic approach that focuses on understanding and healing the internal family system within our body, just like the movie Inside Out. Our protectors develop as a response to life’s experiences. We often times learn to dislike these parts of ourselves. This creates a stronger response from these parts. Through self-compassion and understanding, we are able to learn to be harmonious with these parts. They then allow our core self to step in rather than the protectors taking over.
The protectors try to stop us from carrying painful emotions, but in doing so, also stop us from connecting. A core principle of IFS is the belief in the "Self," a centered, calm, and compassionate core of the person, which can lead and guide the internal system toward healing and balance. It empowers clients to access their inner wisdom and restore balance to their emotional/psychological well-being.
This model is the Wings of our clinic as it allows us to look at our inner family over other systems, to create a life that is congruent with ourselves.
Family Systems Theory
All of our work is based on Family Systems Theory, which states that the family is an emotional system made up of interconnected members. It is due to this theory that we are able to work with individuals, couples, and families effectively even if all members are not present for therapy. As we do systems work, we can shift even just one member of the system, which then allows for change to all members of the family system.
Our team has immediate openings. We are licensed in UT, WY, ID. We are multicultural and speak Spanish.
